BIO  – Doug Campbell

I was born in 1953 in New Glasgow Nova Scotia and grew up in a typical Canadian family. We went to a United Church for many years where we learned the Bible stories but were not taught about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I drifted away from God as an older teen and got wrapped up in a party lifestyle. I graduated from university and worked through my twenties but was increasingly addicted to alcohol and by 27 my life was becoming unstable.

I met a Christian girl at work and she witnessed to me about Jesus, being born again and having a new life. That really appealed to me as I desperately wanted to give up alcohol and have something to live for. After a summer of hearing the gospel I trusted in Christ in August 1981. Glenda and I were married the following year and went on to have our 3 children, Jenny, Ben and Ally.

We answered the calling of God to serve Him full-time and went to Briercrest Bible College from 1987 to 1990. We pastored in New Glasgow from 1990-1993 and then joined Village Missions of Canada and served in 2 churches over the next 16 years. We did an interim ministry at Main Street Baptist Church, Sackville NB from 2006-2007. We pastored in our home church, Faith Baptist Church, Great Village NS from 2010 to 2018. I retired from full-time pastoral ministry in 2018 and have remained active in pulpit supply and church ministry at Faith Baptist. Glenda and I continue to reach out and encourage others.

In Spring 2020 I sensed a call back into ministry. Through prayer and conversations with the Regional Council I accepted the call to be Regional Director for Fellowship Atlantic. While this is currently a part-time position, Glenda and I are excited to begin this new chapter. We have had a fruitful ministry with many varied experiences that will help us lend encouragement to pastoral families and their churches. We have been “around the block” and survived to tell the tale! The Lord has seen us through it all and we have never regretted our decision to follow Jesus and serve Him.

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving in Fellowship Atlantic with my fellow pastors and look forward to working with them in this new role. So, I'm looking forward to connecting with you, the pastors and churches of Fellowship Atlantic. May God bless you and lead you through these uncertain times.
